The 2009 National Family Conference will be held July 23-25 in Williamsburg, Virginia at the Crowne Plaza Williamsburg at Fort Magruder.

Conference registration will begin on Thursday morning, July 23rd. The conference program will begin on Thursday afternoon. The event will include workshops and general sessions led by the physicians and dentists from the NFED Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) on the various aspects of ectodermal dysplasia including advocacy, current research, dental care, dental implants, dermatology, ear, nose, and throat issues, emotional well-being, genetics, insurance issues, nutritional concerns, and pediatric issues.

Clinical research will also be a part of the conference. It is through this research that we will be able to identify and understand some of the unknowns of the ectodermal dysplasias. Clinical evaluations will also be available from various members of the SAB. The conference will conclude late Saturday afternoon

Kids’ Camp
While the parents attend sessions, children will be well cared for at the Kids’ Camp. Kids’ Camp is held at the hotel and is available at no additional cost for children who are 13 years of age and younger. Activities, entertainers, field trips, and games are planned for the children’s enjoyment.

Teen Programming
A full schedule of activities (including an off-site field trip and plenty of social opportunities) and workshops will be planned for the teenagers age 14-19.

Registration
All individuals affected by ectodermal dysplasia on the NFED’s mailing list will receive the registration forms in early spring. You can also download the forms from our Web site (www.nfed.org) at that time. The conference registration fee of $175 for adults and $125 for children includes admission to all general sessions and workshops, conference materials, Kids’ Camp for children age 13 and younger, teen activities, dinner on Thursday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Not included are hotel charges and general transportation. The Crowne Plaza Williamsburg at Fort Magruder has offered NFED conference guests a room rate of $129 per night.

Scholarships Available
The NFED is honored to offer scholarships to families to help them attend the conference. These scholarships can be used for registration fees and/or hotel room reimbursement. To be eligible, please download, fill out and return the application to the NFED office by March 13, 2009.
