Have you considered holding a fundraiser to benefit the NFED? There are many creative ways to raise money, and you can easily tailor a fundraiser to make it easy for you to run. Some people enjoy hosting benefit meals, for example, a spaghetti dinner. To create more community awareness, you can call your local newspaper and ask them to run a story advertising your event.
If you would rather try something on a smaller scale, you can try writing a letter explaining to people how the NFED has helped you or your family, and then share it via regular mail or e-mail with family, friends, and co-workers. By then asking all of your contacts to forward your message on to their contacts, you can reach an amazing number of people with minimal effort.
Several families have had success asking people to donate in honor of their birthday, their child’s birthday, or in memory of someone special to them. As birthdays and anniversaries roll around each year, this would be an easy fundraiser to implement and keep going for years to come.
Be sure to remind everyone that you reach that they can donate online at www.nfed.org, or they can mail their donations to the office at P.O. Box 114, Mascoutah, IL 62258.
Before you begin planning, be sure to contact the office (618-566-2020). The NFED is happy to provide anyone who requests it with “A Guide to Raising Funds and Awareness for NFED - You Can Do It.” This helpful guide walks you through the planning process, and even gives helpful hints to make your event a success. There is an authorization form that we ask people to fill out and return to us prior to their event. If you have any questions, please call Carol, and she will be happy to help. Happy fundraising!
