Overview News Participants Meetings Grants

When the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias was founded in 1981, very little was known about the ectodermal dysplasia syndromes and their treatment. In 1985, the Foundation expanded its mission to include funding seed grants for ectodermal dysplasia research and providing researchers with access to clients.

Since then, the NFED has funded more than $750,000 in research at 37 centers around the world. Today, we better understand the conditions, have identified effective treatments and genes for 10 ectodermal dysplasia syndromes and continue to fund research toward a cure.
