  • High School experiences and accomplishments: Captain of the KPHS A Cappella Group, “The Tritones”; Vice President of the KPHS Leo Club; honor student; Newton-Wellesley Hospital Volunteer; Foundation for Faces of Children scholarship recipient
  • Favorite high school memory: Participating in the chorus for four years
  • Interesting Facts: Lucy loves to sing, musical theater and a cappella. She is very enthusiastic, and enjoys helping others. Her favorite subject is biology.
  • Post-Graduation Goals: Majoring in nursing at the University of Delaware
  • Lifelong Goals: To become a nurse and work in either a neonatal or pediatric ward of a hospital and to get married and have a family.

  • He plans to attend Wingate University in Wingate, N.C. to study criminal justice law.

Bracee is affected by ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasias-clefting (EEC) syndrome.

  • High School experiences: VP of Best Buddies; Co-President of Gay-Straight Alliance; volunteered for three years in church, and for four years at Camp About Face Leadership Academy
  • Favorite high school memory: The overall student expectations shared by admin, teachers, and students.
  • Post-Graduation Goals: Studying health science pre-professional at Purdue University
  • Lifelong Goals: Work her way up to a position in the health science or medical field that allows her to help others on a micro- or macro-level

  • High School experiences: National Honor Society, Over fifty hours of volunteering as a senior; working with the Debate Team senior year; Astronomy Class and being a leader.
  • Favorite high school memory: Learning new things.
  • Interesting Facts: Gym, Listening to Music, Daydreamer, Leader.
  • Post-Graduation Goals: Cory is going to Lone Star College for an Associates of Arts. Then, he will go to a major university to major in business management.
  • Lifelong Goals: Cory will own his own company one day soon and become a multi-millionaire.

Shawna McElmurry

Sliver Cliff, Wis.

Shawna is affected by ectodermal dysplasia.

  • High School experiences: Shawna has worked in a few different food establishments during high school. One of her achievements during school was becoming fluent in sign language. She also learned to play several instruments including drums, acoustic guitar and bass.
  • Favorite high school memory: Socializing!
  • Interesting Facts: Some of her hobbies include photography, art and music. She is also a very outgoing person and enjoys spending times with friends.
  • Post-Graduation Goals: Work in business management
  • Lifelong Goals: Own her own business

Alex is affected by hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED).

  • High School experiences: Alex has tried very hard to never let HED hold him back from reaching for his dreams. During his first three years of high school, Alex played trombone in an award-winning band.  He has been a Key  Club volunteer, working The Relay for Life and the Color Run.  Alex logged at least 500 volunteer hours!
  • Favorite high school memory: Being in Key Club and hanging out with my friends.
  • Interesting Facts: Alex says he is a strong person who loves to run, swim, ride his bike, and skateboard.
  • Post-Graduation Goals: Alex wants to travel for a year and work. His travels will start with a trip to Australia and New Zealand, a graduation gift from his parents. When he returns, he will get a job for at least a year to help pay for college.
  • Lifelong Goals: College
